Eden Hazard backs Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte

Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard has stressed that the team are right behind manager Antonio Conte despite their recent wobble in the Premier League. The Blues have experienced an average run since the turn of the year, and this also saw them bow of the League Cup in the semi-final stage.

In an interview with Telefoot, Hazard was fully supportive of Conte, who has received plenty of sticks from a section of the fans, he said: “We win together, we lose together. Wright feels Pedro, Willian should be picked ahead of Bakayoko

Arsenal legend Ian Wright feels Chelsea’s summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko has not done enough to warrant a starting spot ahead of the likes of Pedro and Willian. The France international has cemented his spot at the heart of the Blues’ midfield following his move from AS Monaco last summer.

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, Wright is still unconvinced over Bakayoko’s abilities and feels one of Pedro or Willian deserve the starting role, although they play in a different position altogether, he said: “Just a quick one on Bakayoko, because I have to get it out otherwise I’ll forget. I’m not having him yet, I’m sorry. I can’t understand how he can get in the team before Willian and Pedro at the moment. Especially, when he played further forward. I need to see a lot more from him, that’s all I’m saying.”

Can Chelsea have Champions League Glory?

It has been a less than halcyon campaign as far as anybody connected with Chelsea is concerned, and with a 17 point gap to close before they can even consider a flirtation with Champions League football it looks like the cup competitions are their only avenue for potential success.

And yet…..there’s a spooky symmetry at work with the 2011/12 season. It was here that the Blues finished sixth in the Premier League after a hugely inconsistent run which saw the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas (for 2015/16 read Jose Mourinho) and the temporary appointment of a ‘goodwill caretaker’ in Roberto Di Matteo (see Guus Hiddink for this year’s vintage). Chelsea: From Premier League champions to relegation candidates?

There can be no question that Chelsea were the dominant force in the Premier League last season, with Jose Mourinho’s men sweeping aside all that stood before them with ominous ease. It was the combination of superb defensive resilience and ruthlessness in attack that saw Chelsea not only set a new league record for the length of time spent at the summit, but also effectively saw them win the title in the first half of the season.

However, no-one could predict the dramatic fall from grace that they have endured this season, with Mourinho not only losing his job at Stamford Bridge for the second time in his managerial career, but Chelsea find themselves just one point above the relegation zone.
