UNITED PRE-SEASON RECORD ENDED BY VILLA

Manchester United have been perfect in pre-season friendlies this summer until they faced Aston Villa at the Optus Stadium in Burswood, Australia. The Red Devils were looking to make it four wins from four games when they faced Villa on Saturday. However, they were unable to reach the said target after fellow Premier League team Villa came from behind to secure an impressive 2-2 draw.

Erik Ten Hag and his Manchester United players began pre-season this summer with a very good friendly win over Liverpool. The Red Devils thrashed their arch rivals 4-0 thanks to the goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial and second half substitute FacundoPellestri. Manchester United made it two friendly wins from two outings with the 4-1 comeback victory over Melbourne Victory of Australia. Martial was one of the United goalscorers against the Australian A-league outfit. Manchester United secured their third straight win in pre-season friendly games this summer with the 3-1 victory over fellow Premier League outfit Crystal Palace. Martial made it three goals in three matches with one of the goals against the London club.

For the Villa game, Manchester United raced into a two-goal advantage at the end of the first half with the goals from English winger Jadon Sancho and Matty Cash (own goal). Sancho scored the first goal for the Red Devils on 25 minutes before Cash put through his own net on 42 minutes. Aston Villa fought their way back into the game four minutes after the half-time break with the goal from Leon Bailey who signed for the former European champions from Bayer Leverkusen. Villa sealed a draw from an unlikely position with the stoppage time strike from Calum Chambers.

Manchester United will take on Spanish La Liga team Atletico Madrid later this month in their last pre-season friendly this summer as they try to bounce back from the second half capitulation against Villa. They start their season with a Premier League home game against Brighton and Give Albion.
